Off-Campus (Remote) access to online resources

Accessing licensed online resources like journals, databases, and e-books from off-campus doesn’t work as seamlessly as on-campus because the online resources don’t recognise that you are an IISc-affiliated user. For example, going straight to a resource (like scopus.com) or any other online resource links won’t give you full access unless you use one of the methods mentioned below.

VPN (Virtual Private Network)

Installing a VPN client will allow you to securely connect to databases and other online resources from any off-campus location by routing your activity through the campus network. Once connected, the VPN client will let you operate like you would if you were on campus.  See VPN installation instructions.

Shibboleth-based off-campus access through Single Sign-on (SSO)

The seamless off-campus access service to most of the subscribed online resources is facilitated to the faculty members and students of the institute using Shibboleth. Shibboleth is a means of authentication and authorisation that allows authorised members of an institute to access licensed online resources through an official email ID and password.
